He then attended the University of
South Carolina on an Air Force Scholarship, a James F. Byrnes
Scholarship and a Carolina Scholarship. He graduated on May 5, 1989
and received a commission in the United States Air Force as a Second Lieutenant.
Military Service
Mr. Songer moved to Oklahoma City and worked at Tinker AFB as a
Computer Programmer/ Analyst for AWACS.
Mr. Songer was deployed
during his time at Tinker to Saudi Arabia and to Panama. He was
stationed at Tinker AFB from 1990 until 1995.
Today
Upon leaving active duty service, Mr. Songer returned to the University of South Carolina
and received a Master of Art in Teaching for Mathematics in 1998.
He then moved to
Spartanburg, South Carolina and worked for one year as a community interpreter for
the Deaf at the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind. Finally,
he moved into a math teaching position in the deaf high school, where he
taught for three years.
Mr. Songer has been at our school since August of this year.

Mr. Songer graduated from Bonds-Wilson High School in North Charleston,
South Carolina in 1985.
